Curtis Ray, 65, of Frankfort, Ind., went home to be with the Lord on December 19, 2016 at I.U. Health in Lafayette. Born October 7, 1951 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to Leroy & Helen (Haley) Ray.  He married Ida Lawson on November 14, 1975 in Kilmore, Ind., and she survives.  Curt attended Thomas Walker High School in Rose Hill, Virginia and moved to Frankfort in 1971. He was currently working for Federal Mogul for the past 41 years.  Curt was a member of the Kilmore United Methodist Church and served on numerous committees, sang in the choir and helped run the sound system there.  He was also a member of the UAW Local 1949 and was past vice president and trustee and steward of the union.  He enjoyed square dancing for 25 years, and was a member of the Frankfort Square Dance Club, Happy Hearts.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2016 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 27th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the Kilmore United Methodist Church.

Wife: Ida Ray of Frankfort, Daughter: Becky (Tom) Stahl of Frankfort, Son: Mark (Kelli) Ray of Taylorsville, Son-in-Law: Rick Plummer of Ockley, Brother: Tonie (Margie) Ray of Rose Hill, Virginia, Sister: Judy Marcum of Rose Hill, Virginia, 7 Grandchildren: Leslie, Erick, Brandi, Jason, Teesha, Samuel and Alyssa and 16 Great Grandchildren.

Preceded by:

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Cathy Plummer, a sister Lu Espinoza, a brother Donnie Ray and a niece and nephew.

    Ida, Becky, Mark and families – Jim, Adam and I are so sorry for your loss. I know there will be a great void in your lives but he will never be forgotten, just know that many mourn with you. Your family meant so much to us when taking care of Adam. You were never just his babysitters – you were an extended family for him, we never had to worry if he was being taken care of properly.     I’m so sorry for the loss of Uncle Curt. He was always a wonderful uncle to me. I loved the way he called me “Darlin'” or “Sugar” with his southern accent. I’ll be in prayer for each of you. We love you!

    Praying that God wraps His loving arms around all of Curt’s family and gives them comfort and strength. I only met Curt one time at the wedding of my niece Kelli to his son Mark. Such a wonderful day and Curt was overjoyed. He was a pleasure to be around and always had a smile. Fly high with the angels my friend.

    We are so sorry. We worked together at Federal Mogul and square danced with Curtis also.He was a very good dancer and he was so helpful to me (Dianne) at work. Jim and I considered him a good friend and coworker.

    I am so sorry to hear about curtis. I will miss his big smile and how nice he was. Always stopping to talk with me. He loved you very much I could see it in his eyes when he would come to Wal-Mart to take you home they would sparkle when he looked at you.     I loved Curtis’s laughter and sense of humor. He always told me that as long as he lived “the Forneys will be able to find their parents grave,” because it is just one row up from your daughter’s grave. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. My prayers to the entire family.

    Curt and I worked at Federal Mogul for many years, and was good friends. He always had a smile and joke for me. I had no idea he had passed, I am truly sorry. He was someone I could talk to about anything, and he would give me his wisdom on things. I am shocked, he’s gone. Please accept our condolences.
