Robert J. Beard

Robert J. Beard 90, Mulberry, IN and former rural Frankfort, IN resident, died at 1:03 p.m. October 17, 2010 in Clarian Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, IN. Born May 14, 1920 in Saskatchewan, Canada to the late Marvin E. & Ethel Viola (Reef) Beard. He married Ruth Agnes Padgett on March 15, 1942 and she preceded him in death on November 24, 2000. He then married Imajeane (Eubanks) Burkhalter on January 12, 2002 and she survives. Mr. Beard was a 1938 graduate of Kirklin High School. He lived in Clinton County most of life and had been a Mulberry, IN resident the past 8 ½ years. He had been a farmer since 1944. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during WWII. Mr. Beard was a former member of the East Side Christian Church where he had served as elder and chairman of the board. He is currently a member of Trinity Church in Mulberry.

Visitation and Services

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 20th from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the East Side Christian Church Mission Fund or Trinity Church Olympian Program, envelopes will be available.

Wife: Imajeane Beard of Mulberry 2 Sons: Michael A. (Pam) Beard of rural Frankfort, and Edward J. (Winifred) Beard of Rossville 2 Daughters: Linda J. Beard of Lowell and Marsha A. (Irvin) Hosfield of Frankfort 3 Step-Sons: Steve (Frances) Burkhalter of Frankfort, Don (Pat) Burkhalter of Rural Mulberry and Mike (Janet) Burkhalter of Rural Frankfort 1 Step-Daughter: Brenda (Bill) Melville of Lafayette 18 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen and Russell and his twin sister, Roberta Shepard.

    To All the Beard & Burkhalter Families,
    Our sincere sympathy to all at the death of your father. We were around Bertie & Joe quite a bit; and never knew that the twins were born in Canada. You learn something every day! Hope Imajeane is doing alright.
