So sorry to hear about Max. I talked a long time with Mom, Aunt Judy Unger, today, and she was full of memories of when they were kids. I have good memories of time spent playing in the back yard in Michigantown…always was a lot of fun and so much to do!
Last time I got to visit with Max was last summer when he came to Russiaville at Stout’s for my Dad’s sister’s viewing…one of the grandsons brought him. We will be thinking of you in the coming days, and remember you in our prayers.
    Love,
    LouAnne

I am so sorry to hear about Max. Greg always liked to stop by the shop and talk. I remember when Greg brought home the “Richey” hat. He really liked that. My prayers and thoughts are with everyone. God Bless!

    Dear Max Richey Family:
I have coached Eastern (Greentown, Indiana) track & field for for forty-one years and never met a more passionate person for the sport of T&F (especially the P.V.) than Max Richey! His familiar face at big meets was so much a standard that I would ask ‘Where’s Max?” and my peers would immediately know of whom I was speaking!
An interesting story: Years ago I knowingly took a set of defunct HJ standards over to Max fully expecting him to be unwilling to repair them for they were in the worst possible shape! He took a glance at them and said “I don’t know why not…it’s a shame not to get the most outa them!! Well, Max got my vote from then on out! He continued to mend my gear through the years…even through his Grandsons who recently repaired our HJ mats.
Please know how much Indiana T&F will miss Max Richey as his 1956 State P.V. Championship and his devotion will always be held dear to us all! God’s Blessings on U All,
    Paul Nicholson, Head T&F Coach
    Greentown, Indiana

    Debbie and family,
I went to Clinton Central with you and was in business in Kirklin when Max and your grandfather did a lot of construction work for us at the elevator. I always respected both of them very much. My condolences to you and your family. Max will be missed.

I always enjoyed visiting and “bantering” with Max at CVS. I also really appreciate all the support and encouragement he gave my son, Nick, in track. It helped Nick to realize he had the ability to take it to the next level.
Max will be greatly missed by many. Your family will be in my prayers

Max will be sorely missed. He was a great guy and a credit to the track and field community. I always looked forward to seeing Max on Saturdays when we had home meets at Purdue, just to get to chat with him.

To my family, no two parents could be prouder of their family that your dad and myself. I am so proud to be your mother. I have the highest respect for all of you and I am so proud of each and every one of you. The most outstanding thing in life that your dad and I have is the love and closeness of our children, Terri, Max II and Lisa, and of our grandchildren. Max was the very best dad and grandfather anyone could have. They were always first in his life. Thanks for the wonderful memories that can never be taken away from us. I love each and every one of you and want nothing but the best for all of you. Also let me thank my sons-in-law and daughter-in-law. I love you too. Love, Mom and Grandma Richey.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of such a great man. He was a really good friend to me. I loved being around him. No matter how sad I may have been he could always make me laugh. I worked at Ponderosa, and got to know him well. He would always bring his grand kids in and I could see how much he loved them. He will truly be missed.
