Mary Etta Sims

Mary Etta Sims, 93, of Frankfort, left this broken world into the arms of Jesus on April 1, 2024. Mary was a resident at Wesley Manor.  She was born March 23, 1931 in Frankfort, IN. to Harvey Fay & Teena Ola (Myers) Igney.  She married Herbert A. Sims on March 17, 1949 in Frankfort and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2000.

Mary was a 1948 graduate of Frankfort High School and lifelong Frankfort resident.  She was a press operator and retired from Federal Mogul.  She previously had worked at Mallory in Frankfort.

The family would like to thank the staff at Wesley Manor for their wonderful care over the past 6 years while Mary was a resident of the assisted living facility and then the health center.

Visitation and Services

The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Green Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.

3 sons, Paul (Dixie) Sims of Lehigh Acres, FL, Mark (Sandy) Sims of Lebanon, IN, and John (Pam) Sims of Naples, FL, 5 grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Sims of Indianapolis, IN, Crystal (Rob) Sims of Albuquerque, NM, Ian (Tracy) Sims of Lebanon, IN, Bryce (Eliana) Sims of Hollywood, FL, Ben (Moira) Hopson of Cape Coral, FL and 4 great-grandchildren, Ashley (Jordan) Smith of Austin, TX, Caterina Sims of San Antonio, TX, Allison Sims of Lebanon, IN and Abigail Sims of Lebanon, IN.

Preceded by:

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert “Bob” Igney.

    I was an aid at Clinton House and took care of Teena and meet Mary then. She was a very dedicated daughter to Teena. Mary was a very nice lady. I had often wondered what happened to her. My deepest sympathy to the whole family.

      Thank you for your kind words Rita. Mom lived at the Jefferson St house for 15 years after grandma passed in 2001. Mom enjoyed her time and friends at Wesley Manor after moving out of the house. That is wonderful and amazing you remember grandma. Thank you for posting.     We were neighbors on Jefferson street and she was a sweet lady. So sorry for your loss.

      Thank you for your kind words Laurie. Mom grew up there and ended up living there after grandma passed in 2001 for 16 years before going to Wesley Manor. Mom enjoyed her time and friends at Wesley Manor after moving out of the house. Thank you for posting and being a great neighbor. Mom is no longer in pain and at rest in the arms of Jesus.
