Joyce A. Decker

October 27, 2016

Joyce A. Decker 74 of Frankfort, Ind., passed away at 9:50 a.m. October 27, 2016 at SHC Parkwood, Lebanon, Ind., after an extended illness.  Joyce was born July 16, 1942 in Canton, Ohio to Robert O. & Mary (Miller) Wade.  She was a 1960 graduate of New Philadelphia (Ohio) High School.  On May 23, 1964, she married Gary L. Decker at the First Baptist Church, New Philadelphia, Ohio and he survives. Joyce was secretary at Marlite Corp., Dover, Ohio after high school. Later, during her husband’s time of service in the U.S. Navy, she worked as a stock broker assistant at the Investment Corp in Norfolk.  Following the years in Norfolk, Virginia, she was with I.D.E.A. Education Research in Melbourne, Fla., a part of the Kettering Foundation.  In 1971 she moved to Frankfort when her husband accepted a position with the former Unilectric, Inc.  Joyce was a very kind and caring person.  She had a way of being your conscience without offending. Aunt Joyce will forever remain in my heart as a sweet, gentle and caring lady who loved to laugh. She was my early childhood role model and I loved spending time with her, Uncle Gary and Jessica at every chance – so many happy memories! She’s joining my mother Kiko and brother Brian in that next place. Our condolences to her family and friends – you are in our thoughts and prayers. A donation to http://www.preventchildabuse.org has been made in loving memory of Joyce Decker. May she rest in peace.
