Joseph W. Haskett, a native of Tipton, Indiana and a former Frankfort resident, passed away at his home in Naples, Florida, at age 88. He is survived by daughter Terry Haskett of Naples. Preceding him in death, his wife of sixty-four years, Betty Curry Haskett, and parents William Buell Haskett and Mona Johnson Haskett.
Following service in military intelligence during the Korean War, Joe owned and operated NAPA Auto Parts stores in central Indiana. Employees, customers, suppliers, and store owners formed a network of friendships he cherished for the rest of his life.
Joe had a strong Christian faith and through the years was an active member of First Christian Church in Frankfort, IN; Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis, IN; and First Presbyterian Church in Bonita Springs, FL. He nurtured relationships with people from all walks of life and served his community through Rotary membership and as a deacon in his church.
A loving husband, father, and friend, Joe was loved and admired for many reasons including his positive attitude, good character, business acumen, and sense of humor. He always encouraged others by offering sound advice and sharing colloquialisms. “Your attitude is more important than the facts that prevail about any given situation,” was one of his favorites. He often said, “We would have a different perspective about death if we changed the word death to promotion.” Joseph Haskett was promoted to be with his Lord and Savior on May 3, 2019.
