John E. Harper Jr.

John E. Harper Jr., 63, of Frankfort, died July 25, 2022 at his home.  He was born April 8, 1959 in Frankfort, Ind. to John E. Harper Sr., and Opal M. (Schlatman) Harper.  He was previously married to Rebeccah Melton and Tami Deeter.

John was a 1977 graduate of Frankfort High School and was a lifelong Frankfort resident.  A veteran of the U.S. Marines, he served from 1978-1984.  He worked in retail and industrial management, retiring from Hachette Book Group in Lebanon in 2016.  He attended Grace Baptist Church.  John enjoyed reading, country drives, going to the Lagoons and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Funeral services will begin a 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Kevin Alber will officiate the service. A private burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 900 S. Maish Road, Frankfort.

Mother: Opal Harper of Mulberry, 6 Daughters: Stephanie Hunter, Kristine Hunter, Brandi (Cody) Harness, April Spaulding, Tia (Dylan) Crockett, and Jessica Harper all of Frankfort, 4 Sons: Christopher Harper of Virginia Beach, VA, T.J. (Heather Lee) Miller of Frankfort, Ray (Destiny) Harper of Pyrmont, Tyler (Baylee Wessel) Harper of Lafayette, Brother: Harold (Darla) Harper of Colfax, 19 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild.

    I’m so sorry for everyone’s loss. I remember when I first met him and ended up marrying him. We stayed friends because we shared our son Christopher.
