John Bowers Fickle

John Bowers Fickle 83 of Cicero, IN, died at 10:25 p.m. January 23, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis, IN. Born April 3, 1927 in Frankfort, IN to the late I.R. & Florence E. (Bowers) Fickle. He married Fredia Helton on November 23, 1952 in Peru, IN and she preceded him in death on June 18, 1999. Mr. Fickle was a 1945 graduate of Little Jeff High School where he was the all time leading scorer in basketball with over 800 points. He lived at rural route 6 in Frankfort from 1927 until 1990 when he moved to Cicero, IN. He was a farmer and plant foreman at National Seal for 26 years, retiring in 1990. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served from 1945 and 1947 during WWII on the Eastern Front. Mr. Fickle was a former member of the Fickle United Methodist Church, member of Cicero American Legion, Frankfort American Legion, Frankfort Eagles Lodge, Frankfort VFW and Jefferson Masonic Lodge.

Visitation and Services

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 28th at Goodwin Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, January 27th from 4-8 at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be at Bunnell Cemetery.

3 Daughters: Janice C. Adams (Ron) of Wilkinson, Mary H. Beck (Marty) of Carmel and Patty J. Fredenburgh of Indianapolis 2 Sons: Thomas R. Fickle of Cicero and Robert J. Fickle (Lee) of Carmel 1 Brother: William ‘Bill’ Fickle of Rossville 7 Grandchildren: Ron Adams Jr., John Adams, Robert Adams, Taylor Fickle, Dawson Fickle, Sara Beck and Erin Beck Extended family, Ernest Kelly and Linda Givens

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 sisters, Joan Fickle, Betty Friend and a half brother, James Edward.
