Jack W. Paddack

January 31, 2024

Jack W. Paddack, 84, of Jefferson, passed away at 7:41 am on January 31, 2024 at IU Hospital, Lafayette, Indiana following a massive stroke.

Jack grew up, grew old and grew his business all within one block his entire life. Jack was born on October, 28 1939 to Guy R. and Ruth O. (Warren) Paddack in Frankfort, Indiana. He graduated from Little Jeff High in Jefferson in 1956 at the age of 16. On December 27, 1963 Jack married Lynn Schneider, of Frankfort, at the Jefferson Church. They recently celebrated their 60th anniversary together.

After his graduation in May of 1956, Jack and his brother, Bill, started their own business. His love for trucks and trucking had begun. Over the next 68 years, his love for black Mack dump trucks ran deep. In the early 1980’s, Jack and Bill purchased acreage in Florida and developed, from the ground up, Raintree RV Resort in N. Ft. Myers. Bill and his family continue to own and operate.

Jack was best known as the owner of Paddack Brothers Trucking. He also owned Eastgate Townhomes and other rental properties. Jack took great pride in the town of Jefferson, where he purchased, razed, or rehabbed several homes. Many thought of him as the Mayor of Jefferson.

Jacks love for trucks was only a close second to the love of his family. In 1992, when Jaclyn was born, she became the light of his life. From the day she was born, he called her Shorty and it was the only name he ever called her. For the next 31 years, they talked every day, where he provided to her guidance, wisdom, love and laughter.

Jack and Lynn enjoyed their time at their condo at Ft. Myers Beach, Florida for the past 31 years. Some of Jack’s closet friendships were made at their Dolphin Watch Condominium.

I so enjoyed knowing the entire family. I always waved when I headed down 28 as I knew there would be a Paddack around to wave to. What a great life, what a great family.

Sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. AKA The BOSS that’s what I always called him. I worked for him at the Eastgate Apartments in Frankfort. He was a good BOSS to work for. I’m color blind so when I painted the dumpster area the wrong shade of gray he just laughed. Lynn Jill and John I pray for the family to have peace.
