Harry William Shoemaker Jr. 80, of Frankfort, IN, passed away at 10:32 p.m., June 15, 2011 at I.U. Health Arnett, Lafayette, IN. Born: June 26, 1930 in Charleston, IL to the late Harry William & Elizabeth Jane (Waltrip) Shoemaker. His first marriage was to Jane Rohrabaugh, he then married Ida Beth ‘Becky’ Gray on October 7, 1960 and she preceded him in death in 1992. He then married Norma Catron and she preceded him in death in 1996. Mr. Shoemaker was a 1948 graduate of Frankfort High School. He was a longtime Frankfort resident except for Illinois during his first 7 years. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served from May 3, 1951 until March 7, 1953, attaining the rank of Corporal. Mr. Shoemaker worked in railroad maintenance for the Nickel Plate Railroad for 43 years, retiring in 1991. He formerly attended First Baptist Church, and was a former member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge and Eagles Lodge. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion and a member of the VFW. He loved working and being outside, I.U. Basketball, Colts Football and spending time with his family.

Visitation and Services

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, June 18th from 4-7 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Clinton County Cancer Fund or Alzheimer’s Research, envelopes will be available.

Shoemaker of Frankfort 3 Daughters: Debbie (Fred) Click of Frankfort, Lesa (Brad) Moore of Frankfort and Darla (Michael) Calloway of Lafayette Step-Son: Joe (Jean) Catron of Frankfort Sister: Jane Ann (Mike) Miller of Frankfort Brother: James Shoemaker of Frankfort 12 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren

    I was sorry to hear about Harry, today. I always enjoyed seeing him come in. He would always tell us about his plans, which always included a trip to Wal Mart, that day. He was a good man and he will be missed. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
