My deepest condolences to Mr. Gilbert’s whole family and everyone whose life he touched. I was lucky enough to be in his classes for 5 years throughout my time at Clinton Central. Some years I had him for multiple classes a day. He taught me so much and had a huge impact on my life. He taught me that it was okay to love poetry and how to stand strong when I believed in something. He also taught me that extremes never get anything done and you should be willing to compromise. He gave me a love of sociology and psychology. He always pushed me to be the best that I could be. I never had a teacher that believed in me like he did. He would want us to carry on his legacy. The legacy of strength, determination, and love. It may have been tough love, but all that he did was out of love.

I am so sorry to your family for the tremendous loss of your husband, father, family member and friend. Mr. Gilbert was a wonderful educator and I remember him fondly as one of my favorite teachers/mentors and the times I was able to serve as his student helper. He fed my love for history and government as well as organization and note taking. His heart for his students always shown through both in the classroom and on the field. He will be greatly missed.

My sincerest condolences to a great man. Prayers to family and friends. As I read this it makes me sad as I had the fortune to know Coach Gilbert when he was with WT he was my wrestling Coach for 5 years (and he was the reason wrestling started there) till he moved to Pioneer where I was able to go see him there a couple times after he left. I once remember I skipped practice to go skating at the park.. When I returned home my mom was waiting for me to take me to the school to see Coach Gilbert as he called my mom to see where I was. I will never forget that meeting in the office with him. He explained to me team, dedication and told me I could be great at that sport and how he believed In me. As I went on to just miss state that yr losing to the state champion in regional. I also had the good fortune to baby sit his two boys a number of times. As did my older sister Kelly. And I am quite sure he went on to teach many kids many lessons about life and the sports they and he loved.
