Dearest Lanelle, Rob, Joe, Cindy and Cherrie,
We heard of the death of your Mom and have been thinking about her, you all and yours ever since. I’m reflecting on the times I spent there with you all as a young guy…always felt very loved and welcomed by all of you but especially by your Mom. I can hear her laugh as I write and it brings warmth and a smile to my face.
When Mom has visited family out there she picks up those great Indiana expressions, returns to that melodious cadence in her speech and her pace slows to that gracious unhurried manner that just welcomes you home. I love all of this in her and am glad that I have been the happy recipient of Mid-Western hospitality and grace.
I know you are missing your Mom. You’ve got quite a journey ahead that will involve lots of laughs and tears. God’s peace be with each of you as you continue on the path. I know Mom and Kathleen are grieving the loss of their much loved sister as well.
Holly and I are planning to come Tuesday for the viewing and will stay through the funeral. Sadly we will need to leave right afterwards because of my work demands. We look forward to seeing you in a couple days.
All our love to each of you.
