Col. Don R. Stanley

Col. Don R. Stanley 78, Frankfort, IN, died at 6:15 a.m. September 30, 2009 at Milner Community Healthcare, Rossville, IN. Born October 19, 1930 in Forest, IN, to Charles ‘Archie’ & Audra (McAfee) Stanley. He was formerly married to Janet Smith. They were married March 29, 1953. Mr. Stanley was a graduate of Sugar Creek High School and resided in Rossville and Frankfort. He served in the U.S. Navy from November 1950 to September 1954. Don worked at Frazier Dairy, Moorman Feed, was an insurance agent for Farm Bureau Insurance, then Shelter Insurance. He was also an auctioneer, including the 4-H Fair Livestock Auction for many years and was Indiana State Representative for the 28th district from 1974-1978. His memberships include; Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church, Moose, Elks, Eagles, American Legion and 40 & 8. He was also a member of the Frankfort School Board and helped in building Frankfort High School and Case Arena. He enjoyed fishing and raising rabbits.

Visitation and Services

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, October 2, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Clinton County 4-H Foundation.

3 Daughters: Kathy (Kevin) Jackson of Rossville, Cindy (Brian) Beals of Rural Frankfort and Donetta (Mike) Miller of Rossville 1 Brother: Merton (Thelma) Stanley of Kokomo 9 Grandchildren: Miranda Sipe, Kristina McKinney, Mirissa Klecz, Ashlea Benasutti, Jannelle Knapp, Jessica Beals, Brendan, Michelle and Michaela Miller 8 Great Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Thelma Amos and son, Craig Stanley on August 13, 2009.
