Carolyn R. Ostler 79 of Frankfort, IN, died at 11:17 p.m. June 30, 2011 at Wesley Manor. Born August 19, 1931 in Crawfordsville, IN to the late Victor & Dorothy (Hinton) Mahan. She married James V. Ostler on May 17, 1951 in Romney, IN and he survives. Mrs. Ostler was a Seward High School Graduate in Seward, Alaska and a graduate of Lafayette Beauty College. She was a longtime beautician in Frankfort. She attended the First Baptist Church in Sebring, FL. Mrs. Ostler enjoyed visiting with people and spending time with her family.

Visitation and Services

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 5th from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.

Husband: James V. Ostler of Frankfort 3 Daughters: Teresa M. (Dan) Campbell of Anchorage, Alaska, Brenda J. (Dan) Schmidt of Cummings, GA and Lori M. Leamer of Fishers, IN 2 Sons: Michael J. (Sharon) Ostler of Charlotte, NC and Steven D. Ostler of Frankfort Half Brother: Brent Mahan of Portland, OR 2 Step Sisters: Laura White of Anchorage, Alaska and Sara Langton of Beaverton, OR 18 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren

    Dear Ostler family,
    I am so sorry for your loss. I always thought Carolyn was so warm and friendly as I late in H.S. learned to know your family. I still have the 70’s love mug she and Brenda made for me for graduation. I remember how “on fire” she was in her new relationship with Christ at that time. I see the strong bond of love your family has and I know that parents are the ones who mold that. My prayers are for you at this time. I am planning to come to the viewing.     I was so sorry to read about your mother. Kevin and I ran into her walking several times when we still lived in Frankfort. It was always a joy to see her and helped me to remember fondly our jr high/high school days. Hope you all and your dad are well. My best to all of you. Carol

    Dear Jim and family, You have my sincere condolences. Carolyn was a very dear friend to me, we had some great times when we were with Weight Watchers and of course talking about our kids and grand kids. She was so very proud of all of her family. She was a very gracious lady and I have missed our wonderful times together. I will always remember her as a great beautician and close friend. I will miss her but will always have a special place in my heart and memories of our friendship. Love to you all, Virginia

    Our thoughts have been with all of you.
    My first memory of my new Sis Carolyn is her wedding. I was a young teen; she was the most beautiful bride I’d ever seen. She and Jim were a charming couple. Another fond memory is in 1961 when we were all in Seward together. It was such a fun time and a chance for us all to get better acquainted.
