Anna Harrington Lucas Dowell 99, “Miss Annie” passed away on September 19, 2011. Anna was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1912 in Breckinridge County at Constantine, Kentucky. She was one of twin daughters born to J.H. & Mary Eliza Bruner Harrington. She had been a resident of Harned, KY, Hardinsburg, KY, Frankfort, IN and Mesa, AZ.
She was a member of the Custer United Methodist Church in Custer, KY. She also attended the Manson Christian Church and the Bible Holiness Church.
She attended college at Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, KY. Anna was all-state basketball guard at Breckenridge County high school. She taught school 25 years, 15 years in Breckenridge County and Hardin County, KY and 10 years for Clinton Prairie School Corp., in Jefferson, IN, where she taught several different grade levels. Her retirement years were spent; summers in Frankfort, IN and winters in Mesa, AZ.
Visitation and Services
A memorial service will be at the Bruner Family Cemetery in Custer, KY at a later date. No local services are planned.

She is survived by two sons, Leonard Lucas (wife, Mary) and Wilbur G. Lucas both of Frankfort, IN and a special nephew, Ovie Lucas of IA. Anna had 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was much loved by her family.

She was preceded in death by husbands Ike Dowell and Wilbur Lucas, four brothers and two sisters.
