Alma L. York

Alma Lee York of Frankfort, passed away on August 21, 2010, after a lengthy illness. Alma was the oldest of 11 children born to the late Roy Lee an Ada Bell York. She was born August 28, 1939 in Camile Kentucky and her family moved to Indiana when she was 7 years old. Alma graduated from Frankfort High School in 1957, and then joined the Army. After her discharged, she moved to Indianapolis where she worked for Elmer Warren & Associates. Mr. Warren was more than her employer; he became like a second father to her. She retired in 2001 from the Clinton County Welfare Office. Alma enjoyed reading, NASCAR, Cats, listening to Neil Diamond, but mostly, she enjoyed her family and friends.

Visitation and Services

In celebration of Alma’s life here on earth, a memorial service will be held, August 28, 2010, which would have been Alma’s 71st birthday, from 3-6 p.m. at Faith Family Ministries, 508 W. Green St., Frankfort.

Survived by:

Alma is survived by a daughter, Tara York, granddaughter Tricia Twitty and 2 great granddaughters, Isabelle and Cheyenne Echevrria, who lovingly called her “Gmama”, all of Lebanon, IN. She is also survived by 5 brothers and 5 sisters; Alvin (Mary) York of Central Point, OR, Louis York of Jasper, Linda (Larry) Abbott of Monticello, Greg (Linda) York of Lafayette, Debi (Dennis) Thomas of Wingate, Denny York, Mari Howe, Anna (Bob) Marcum and Patty Buck, all of Frankfort, Glen (Diane) York of Lebanon as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

    Alma you fought a uphill battle, now you are at the TOP of the HILL you have joined into GODS kingdom. Congratulations. I will meet you there someday. I know your Sisters Debi and Anna and it is my honor to know them. You were blessed to have 2 loving and caring sisters. Rest well now Alma. Love to all of us as we all have meet our burdens in life and have gotten through it through the strength of each other.
