Selma J. (Merrill) Ridenour, 84, of Frankfort, Ind., died January 13, 2023 in her home. She was born at home on June 26, 1938 in Kirklin, Indiana to Lloyd “Doc” Merrill and Miriam Catherine (Plummer) Merrill. She married Reldo Ross Ridenour on July 12, 1957 at the Hopewell Methodist Church and he preceded her in death on February 21, 2013
Selma was a 1956 graduate of Michigantown High School and served as treasurer for the Michigantown High School Alumni Association for 25 years. She previously worked for the Soil Conservation Service, H&R Block, worked 24 years in the Clinton County Surveyor’s office and served as Clinton County Surveyor from 2002 – 2004. Selma was a previous member of Hopewell United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church and previously attended the New Life in Christ Ministries in Frankfort. After retiring, she and Reldo became snowbirds living in Venetian Park Estates in Sarasota, Florida. They belonged to the Ambassadair Travel Club and traveled worldwide. She and Reldo enjoyed square dancing in the Happy Hearts Club and she was a Scout volunteer.
Visitation and Services
Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main Street, Frankfort, IN 46041. Funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Frankfort.

Surviving are her Daughter: Monica Power of Tarpon Springs, Florida; Son: Ty Ross (LuAnn) Ridenour of Lebanon, Indiana; 2 Sisters: Jane Crum of Middlefork, Indiana and Nancy Fisher of New Market, Indiana; 3 Grandsons: Robert Ross Ridenour of Lebanon, Rylan Ray Ridenour of Lebanon, and Samuel Harrison Power, Jr. of Bloomington; Foreign Exchange who are like family: Jyri and Annele Halonen & family of Finland; and Friends: Merie Palmer, Jacque Palmer and Joshua Palmer of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, and son Bret Ray Ridenour (1986).
So sorry to learn of the passing of Selma. I always enjoyed speaking with her. I liked their car and I could know when I saw it, dear Selma was close by.

We visited Selma several times in Florida after Reldo passed and always looked forward to her return in time for the Michigantown High School Alumni getogether. She will be missed by many.
