William L. McQuern, 89, a long-time Clinton County resident, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Wesley Manor in Frankfort.
He was born March 3, 1926 in Clinton County, to Royal E and Mary (Smith) McQuern. He married Miriam L. Pendry on May 11, 1947 in Colfax and she preceded him in death on Feb. 21, 2015.
Bill attended Colfax High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944. After serving in the Navy, Bill returned home, married Miriam, and began farming west of Manson. After retiring in 1984, he and Miriam moved to North Fort Myers, Fla., where he helped Paddock Brothers build Raintree RV Park. Several years later they moved to Bonita Springs, Fla., where he was maintenance supervisor at the Beach & Tennis condominiums on Bonita Beach. He was also maintenance supervisor at the Hickory Shores condos on Bonita Beach. He later worked at Albertson Grocery in Bonita Springs before moving back to Frankfort in 2007 to be with family. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening and traveling with Miriam in their motor home. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Visitation and Services
Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. on August 10, 2015 at Goodwin Funeral Home. No public services are planned. Family burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park in Frankfort. Barbara Kinsler will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to the Great Lake Hospice

He is survived by two sons: Terry R. (Linda) McQuern of Frankfort and James A (Teresa) McQuern of Justin, Texas; a daughter: Carol Jo (Gordy) Barnett of Frankfort; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by granddaughter, Jamie McQuern (5 months), a brother, Marvin McQuern and sister Margaret Forney.
