William J. “Bill John” McKinney, 72, died on Tuesday mid-day, November 24, 2015, in Round Rock, Texas, with his children by his side. Bill was born in Frankfort, the son of the late William L. and Mary E. (Smith) McKinney. He attended Cutler School and graduated from Rossville High School in 1961, before attending Fort Wayne Business College.
Bill John proudly served 13 years in the Indiana National Guard, Unit D1 of the 151st Airborne Infantry. Following retirement from his Unit (while in his mid-60’s) Bill continued to serve his country and was deployed by a private security firm to support U.S. efforts in the Middle East, serving two years in Kuwait. He was a member of the United States Parachute Association and enjoyed sport parachuting for over 30 years out of Greene County, Xenia, Ohio.
Over Bill’s career he had worked at Household Finance in Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio; DAP in Dayton, Ohio, and 13 years at Sun Chemical in Frankfort, prior to retiring in 1999 to care for his aging parents.
Visitation and Services
3-7 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at the Goodwin Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the funeral home.

Survivors include his daughter Meredith McKinney, two sons, Sean McKinney, and Mark Bockrath, all of Austin, Texas; sister, Susan J. (McKinney) Crum, Rossville; and three grandchildren, Cheyenne, Brooklyn, and Katelyn
So sorry to hear Bill passed. My prayers to the family. I also worked at Sun Chemical. Had a lot of conversations with Bill. He had attended the same Bible Study as I, I’m glad he was saved. He will be missed.
