Steven Caldwell Ostler

Steven Caldwell Ostler, 78, of rural Frankfort, died Sunday, June 13, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born August 24, 1942 in Peru, Indiana to LeMoine & Mary (Caldwell) Ostler.  He married Linda Kay George on April 6, 1963 in Michigantown, Indiana and she survives.

Steve was a 1960 graduate of Clinton Central.  This was the 1st Class to graduate from the newly formed school.  He was a farmer for 19 years, a carpenter, a bus driver for Rossville Schools for 15 years and worked for Wabash National/Aurora Trailers in Parts/Driving, retiring in 2009.  He was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church and was a volunteer for the Rossville Volunteer Ambulance Service for 10 years.  He enjoyed boating, hunting, reading, fishing, traveling out west and tinkering in his shop.

The Family would like to express their gratitude for the care and services of Indiana University Health Hospice Care of Lafayette, IN.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor Bob Raschka will officiate. Burial will be in Whiteman Cemetery, Michigantown, Ind. Memorial donations may be made to the Rossville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 568, Rossville, IN 46065 or Rossville Volunteer Ambulance Services P.O. Box 50, Rossville, IN 46065.

Wife: Linda Ostler of rural Frankfort, 2 Sons: William “Bill” (Susan) Ostler of Chillicothe, IL and Gary (Melissa) Ostler of rural Frankfort, Daughter: Betsy (Mark) Hinesley of Chardon, OH, 7 Grandchildren: Amber (Aaron) Arnold, Brian Ostler, Capt. Nathaniel Hinesley, Matthew Hinesley, PFC. Luke Hinesley, Alejandro and Levi Ostler, 2 Great Grandchildren: Evalie and Wesson Arnold, Special Family: Ainura Nametullayeva and R. Nikki Knox (children Jessica Boldenow & Aleyah Dunham)
