Shauna Rae Blackburn

Shauna Rae Blackburn, 42, of Frankfort, Indiana, passed away July 14, 2024 at University Hospital in Indianapolis.  She was born on August 14, 1981 in Muncie, Indiana to James Lee and Sharon Lynn (Mansfield) Petty.  She married Samuel Blackburn on March 2, 2013 in Frankfort and he survives.

Shauna grew up in Muncie and was a 1999 graduate of Parkview Christian School.  She attended classes at Ball State University then moved to Frankfort in 2012.  She was a self-employed graphic designer with New Image Creative Group.  She was a member of Christian Life Church in Frankfort.  Shauna was very creative and loved water color painting, crafts, and cooking.

Memorial donations may be made in Shauna’s honor to the Christian Life Church.

Visitation and Services

A Funeral Service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Christian Life Church, 2501 E. Wabash Street, Frankfort, with Pastor Philip Jordan officiating.  Friends may visit from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. at the church.  Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2024 at Green Lawn Cemetery, Frankfort.  Goodwin Funeral Home is honored to assist the Blackburn family. 

Survived by:

Surviving along with her husband, Samuel are her children, Hailey Caplinger, A.J. Caplinger, and Jorden Blackburn all of Frankfort; sister, Jessica (Vito) Di Giovanni of Indianapolis; in-laws, Wanda (Chuck) Willard and family of Frankfort and Jerry (Mary) Blackburn and family of Frankfort; nieces and nephews, Antonino, Antonella, Rosa, and Nicolo Di Giovanni of Indianapolis; along with her aunt: Penny (Tom) Davis of Muncie.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents and step-father, Bill Miller.

    Our deepest condolences to the family. Shauna is a beautiful angel in Heaven called by our Savior to sit with Him at His throne. A beautiful life and now a life continues beyond the veil. We will all be together worshiping our Savior one day. May the peace of God fill her family. Praying for the Holy Spirit to rest in every member. Our family is from Muncie and we share a bond of faith.

    My beautiful, sweet, & funny friend. You were one of the first to make me feel at home in Indiana. You stayed my friend long after we moved. There was never a dull moment with you present. I will forever cherish memories of our friendship. Your cheerful outlook even in the most difficult times is inspiring. You will be greatly missed. Heaven gets sweeter everyday. Love you my friend.

    Will never be forgotten by Mom & Dad Caplinger. We loved her and are sad, but also know she is with Jesus and awaits her resurrected body and is just merely says ahead of us from this world. Shauna moved her family and Church and friends. She raised he children to follow God, worked and served him to the end.
