Shan A. Baggett 49 of Frankfort, IN, died at 9:38 p.m. September 16, 2012 in a motorcycle accident in Clinton County. Born February 1, 1963 in Drakesboro, KY to Darrel & Wanda (Bodine) Baggett. He married Barbara S. Goodnight on July 7, 1992 in Beechmont, KY and she survives. Shan was a 1982 graduate of Hughes-Kirk High School in Kentucky and attended Belmont University in Tennessee. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served for four years, most of the time at Grissom Air Force in Peru, IN. Shan moved to Frankfort in 1990 and since March of 1990 has worked at NHK in Frankfort, currently a manufacture manager. He is a member of the Moose Lodge #7 in Frankfort, HOG Member, and former little league baseball coach in Mulberry, was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved riding his Harley-Davidson.

Visitation and Services

Services will be 7 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Shan Sheridan will officiate. Visitation will be prior to the service from 2 to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Baggett family for a college fund to benefit Jake and Sam. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Parents: Darrel & Wanda Baggett of Kentucky Wife: Barbara Baggett of Frankfort 3 Sons: Joshua A. Baggett Wyrick of Louisville, KY, Jake R. Baggett and Sam R. Baggett both at home 2 Sisters: Deralyn S. Baggett and Bernie Bogle both of Bowling Green, KY Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.

    There are no words that we can say to ease your pain right now. Be assured you have been prayed for and prayers will continue for you and all of Shan’s family. You both have been such a comfort to us during Nancy’s illness and treatments(got another card from you today–Monday) and we will do our best to fulfill Paul’s words in Galatians 6:2

    Dear Barbara, Darrel, Wanda, Deralyn, Bernie & The sons of Shan Baggett,
    My deepest sympathies and prayers are with you all. I know that Barbara and the boys don’t know me but I went to school with Deralyn, Shan, and Bernie. I have known them since my first years in school all the way to graduation. Shan was not only an excellent basketball player, he was light-hearted and fun. Almost all the memories I have of Shan off the basketball court include laughing. I hope that he continued to laugh and love life to the end. I believe he probably made a pretty darn good father. I don’t know if Shan was elected most likely to succeed but after seeing the pictures on Deralyn’s FB page and reading his obituary I would have to say that he succeeded!!!     Words could never express how heartbroken we are for you. It’s a terrible heartache to have to endure when a loved one is gone too quickly and too soon.     We were shocked and saddened to hear of your loss. Mark especially can relate as his sister was just a bit younger than that when she passed away. Needless to say, our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. We know that his parents and sisters will surround Shan’s wife and children with their love. We pray they will sense the loving arms of Jesus in the physical embrace of Darrel, Wanda, Deralyn and Bernie. We also pray for Darrel and Wanda–there is no grief greater for a parent than to lose a child, and for Bernie and Deralyn as they cope with the loss of a beloved brother. Even though we are separated by many miles, please know we are with you in Spirit as you go though the motions of continuing your lives in the weeks and months ahead.     Darrel, Wanda, Deralyn and Bernie: I am so very heartbroken to hear about Shan. It seems like yesterday I was reading books to the kids and they were looking forward to being a teenager!! My sister Joyce was telling me they were talking about Shan on the radio there yesterday, remembering his high school basketball years. Barbara, I never got the pleasure to meet you and the children but know my thoughts and prayers are with you all. If he was half as good a husband and father as he was a child you had a precious jewel. Let God wrap his love around you all and his peace surround you. You all are in my prayers.
