Facebook Twitter GoogleDear Family Members,
May God be with you as you struggle with your loss. Jesus promised that God will send a comforter to you. As you face the long dark days ahead, look to the rainbow and remember all God’s goodness and promises for us. Then think about the joy Scott is experiencing going home. It is difficult for us as we grieve his loss. While he isn’t here with us in body, he will never be gone from us. He is apart of us and will live on in our hearts always. Pause to remember him and in the silence you will feel his presence and his love. My deepest condolences.

Facebook Twitter GoogleScott did not hesitate to become friends with a total stranger from Norway in 1990. His friendship meant a lot to me. He was curious about my background, about the adjustments I had to make to feel at home in Indiana and be a part of the community. He drove long ways to pick me up and showed me a good time. I enjoyed spending time with the Future Farmers of America. I was fortunate to make it back home to Indiana in June this year. Again Scott went out of his way to meet up with old friends from High School. Eric, Leanna, Scott and I went down memory lane and had a good time together. Thank you for being such a good friend through the most groundbreaking year in my youth. You are a good example for my kids when new kids come into their lives. I will not forget.

Facebook Twitter GoogleOur condolences and prayers to a good man and his family. It only seems like yesterday when my own brother, Todd, and I, participated in 4-H sheep shows with Darren and Scott at the Clinton County fairs in the 80s. What great fun we had and we will always cherish those fantastic memories. Peaceful rest, my law enforcement brother, and God Bless You.

Facebook Twitter GoogleTo the Close Family,
Scott was my training officer when I came to the Westfield Police Department in Nov. 2004. I remember the laughs we had in the squad car together and how I had to drive to McShell so Scott can get a fountain diet coke for Amy during 2nd shift. I remember Izzy as a toddler being so scared of the Old Country Buffet mascot. I will always remember and honor my training officer Scott T. Clouse. Rest easy sir, we will take it from here.

Facebook Twitter GoogleMy heartfelt condolences to all of Scott’s family. I met Scott personally only a time or two, via my brother, Rory, with whom he served on WPD; however, those meetings revealed to me a man of great heart & integrity. Though his valiant fight is over, his legacy will be one of commitment & service to family & community. May he rest in peace and may you be left with cherished memories to comfort you. We hold you close in thought & heart…

Facebook Twitter GoogleTo the Clouse family,
Scott was a great police officer and an even better friend. We attended many a meeting together and worked several Checkpoints together and you couldn’t ask for someone more competent and dependable. Scott was always funny and a pleasure to be around. I know your loss is great, but so is the loss to Hamilton County Law Enforcement. Please accept my most sincere condolences and know that we will all miss our dear friend.

Facebook Twitter GoogleTo Scott’s family, Amy and Isabelle,
My name is Todd Erb. My wife Marylyn and daughter Kelley were murdered in our Westfield home back on December 20, 2013. Scott was a part of the Westfield police department that was instrumental in the investigation of the case involving my family. I remember Scott as a part of that team and remember the occasions that he sat out in front of my house in his police car keeping watch over our house during the first weeks after the crime was committed. I know he worked tirelessly in his efforts and remember having brief discussions with him as he sat out front of our house. I remember him as a kind and compassionate individual and I could tell he was a man of faith much like myself. Amy I encourage you to stay close to God and allow Him to reveal himself as the upcoming days and weeks go by. Stay engaged with family and friends and allow them to comfort you. Cling to Proverbs 3:5-6.
With deepest sympathy
Todd Erb

Facebook Twitter GoogleI remember being in school singing with Scott. He had a wonderful singing voice and sometimes he would be a little shy about it. Everyone loves him he made us all laugh. We got paired together on stage once and we laughed about it for a month. We had fun doing the musical Oklahoma. I will miss his vibrant spirit. I am a better person because I knew him.

Facebook Twitter GoogleFor Scott’s Family:
May God continue to grant comfort in the years to come. I only learned of Scott’s death yesterday from a Westfield PD officer. Yet, I knew immediately where he was resting. Scott and I became fast friends at IUK. When my USAF time was over I lived in Westfield during recovery and rehab. Scott came by the house every week for almost 1 year just to check on me. He was still the soft-hearted, kind listener I met in 1990. Sometimes, when the memories were dark and I was fearful, Scott would simply place his hand on mine and pray until the Spirit of God quieted my mind. I loved him all the more for his many kindnesses toward me.
No feeble and belated words of mine could ever comfort so great a loss. I pray our common and shared Lord hold you close to His heart where you can hear and know His heart beats with eternal love for you. May you there find just that measure of comfort you need in that moment, and every moment after, until you see Scott again in the presence of the Lord he loved and served.
May the grace and peace of Christ Jesus be with you all. Most sincerely and with deepest respect,
Joshua Ashbaugh
