Sandra K. Bond

May 6, 2020

Sandra K. Bond, 73, a former Frankfort resident, died May 6, 2020 in Bowling Green, KY.  She was born October 7, 1946 in Lafayette, Ind. to Richard William Elmore & Delores Betty (Bennett) Meyer.

Sandra was a 1964 graduate of Clinton Central High School.  She had lived in Kokomo, Ind., prior to moving to Bowling Green in 2003.  She retired from General Motors Corvette Plant and was a member of the UAW Local 2164.  While employed with General Motors, she was an officer for the UAW and was very passionate about her work.  She was also a member of the Bowling Green Corvette Club and BOP Club.  Sandra loved to travel.  She especially loved to cruise and saw many places including Italy, Spain and the Caribbean.  She also loved landscaping and working in her yard.  Flowers brought her great joy.  She was an accomplished ballroom dancer and had the opportunity to dance with the famous Derek Hough.  After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to live music and enjoying life.  Sandra was full of joy and never met a stranger.  She will be missed by many.

Very sorry to learn of your loss. I consider Sandy a good friend. Very sorry that I lost track of her. She seems like she had a very interesting life from majorette to Derek Hough. I was a guest in the Meyer home on many occasions. I was a good friend of Sandy, and my brother, Denny was a good friend of Don’s. Certainly remember the birth of Anji and later Gina. Sincere sympathies to the family.

I was privileged to know Sandy. We went on many trips together. I can remember when we were at Black lake, I sprained my ankle so bad and she help me get back so I could get ice on it. We were a pair that week! She was such a nice, sweet person! She always looked like she just walked out of a magazine, she was beautiful inside and out. I pray for her family, her girls and all the empty hearts she’s left behind.

Sandy will always be remembered for her fun personality and zest for life. Every time I look at my flowers and trees I will think of your mom because she loved caring for her flowers and trees. And when we all watch DWTS we will think of Sandy because we know she loved that show. God bless you both and take of your self and because that is what your mom would want.

Although I only met Sandy in 2016, she was like part of the family when she’d visit us. Her zest for life and her friendly, welcoming smile drew people in! She had that “light” inside of her and it shown outwardly for all to see. I’m glad I had the opportunity to meet this amazing woman. She is missed by us here in Florida; never to be forgotten by those whose lives she touched. My sincerest condolences to her entire family.
