As nephew-in-law (via Barbara Fickle) I met Ruth Conrad Howe with sister Jean Conrad Fickle. In San Clemente Ca on Feb14 1985. Before Barbara got up ,fueled by caffeine,”The Conrad Girls” grilled me for 90 minutes. After 2 months of dating Barbara my credentials clearly required close scrutiny. Had I been married, how many children, did I have a good job, did I have parents, my financial condition. I passed the test though at the time my financial condition was dodgier than I cared to admit. This is now known to my friends as “The Conrad Gals Interrogation Technique”. Over the past 26 years I have become a member of the Fickle/Howe clan and introduced her to my Scottish clan. Ruth loved to laugh and we all laughed with her. Hail and farewell from Honorary Hotdog Jake Mackenzie
