Roberta R. Morris, 92, of Frankfort, passed away December 20, 2020 at Mulberry Health Retirement Community.  She was born on August 29, 1928 in Clinton County, Indiana to Robert and Ruth (Gephart) Rice.  She married Max W. Morris on March 1, 1947 and he preceded her in death on May 16, 2017.

Roberta attended Scroggy and Kilmore Schools and was a 1944 graduate of Rossville High School.  She was a homemaker and a member of Boyleston Baptist Church.  She loved family time – playing volleyball with family and attending the kids and grandkids sporting events.  She enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, square dancing and loved her cards – especially Euchre.

Memorial donations may be made in Roberta’s honor to the Clinton County Cancer Fund, 258 ½ Fourth Street, Frankfort, IN 46041.

Visitation and Services

Family Services were held at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main Street, Frankfort.   Burial was in Kilmore Cemetery in Kilmore, IN.

Surviving are her Son: Wayne R. Morris of Frankfort; Daughter: Tracey Byrne of Michigantown; Son-in-law: Steve Mang of Kokomo; 6 Grandchildren: Rich (Karen) Smith, Reanna (Travis) Fultz, Ryan (Camey) Morris, Nicki Whiteman (Brian Crenshaw), Jeremy (Katherine “Kat”) Mang, and Joshua (Erica) Mang; and 10 Great-Grandchildren: Samantha, Taylor, Logan, Max, Landree, Kaleb, Rileigh, Piper, Delaney, and Harper.  

Preceded by:

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Max, 3 daughters: Rebecca Jane Morris, Sharon Rose Morris, and Linda K. Mang, 2 sisters: Elizabeth Ogden and Eleanor Coleman, and her brother: Robert Rice.

    Tracey and Wayne, I am so sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful woman. Kind hearted and loved everyone. She was one of the biggest cheerleaders any of us could ask for. I loved her like my own mama. RIP Mommy Morris.

    To the family, I met Roberta many years ago as I was a classmate of Linda’s at CC during the early sixties. Then my husband taught some of Roberta’s grandkids at CC. I think Rich and Nicky were the ones. Our daughter, Julie, was a teammate of Reanna’s at CP. Our fondest memories of Max and Roberta were their role as grandparents supporting their Central and Prairie granddaughters. They owned both Central and Prairie apparel and would wear 1/2 and 1/2 when the two teams played each other. Many of the girl’s teammates called Roberta, Grandma. Rest now Roberta and find joy in being with your daughters again.

    Owen loved seeing Roberta and Max at the games and swim meets….she always called him by name and wished him well. We also remember many a volleyball game that she attended while Grace and girls were together. We fell blessed to have know her and always impressed with her obvious love for her family. We pray that your happy and fun memories outnumber your tears! Blessings to you all and congratulations to her on a life well lived!!!

    Very sorry for your loss , i know she loved each and everyone of you. And you know she loved you. It’s very hard at this time to lose someone just before a holiday or anytime for that matter, but God is with you all to help you through.

    Roberta, and Max too, were the most wonderful neighbors. I have lived beside them ever since I was a little girl. In fact, they used to watch me for my parents when I was young. She was such a kind, giving woman. It seems she never knew a stranger. Every Halloween, I would stop at their home to show off my costume. As I grew up and had kids, the tradition continued. They were still wonderful neighbors to all my family, including my late grandparents, the Jones’s. They were especially kind to Grandpa after Grandma died. While they lived at the home place, I took my kids to their house to show off their Halloween costumes. I’m so sorry for the family’s loss of such a wonderful Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma. The good thing is that she and Max get to be together again. Fly high my dear sweet friend, Roberta.

    Aunt Roberta was one of a kind. She was an extra special person, and one that will never be forgotten. She loved her husband and family with all her heart. We have so many pleasant memories of her. She will be missed by all.

    We remember Roberta coming to the many athletic events her grandchildren were in and how she enjoyed them. We remember her working at Treece’s and how quickly she got things done. We also remember her at the Boyleston Baptist Church. She was a kind lady and always seemed to have a smile. We’ll keep your family in our thoughts and prayers.

    Wayne your mother was so sweet even though she rooted for your team she would always root for everyone else’s team. I loved that about her.
