Richard J. Bates 63, Frankfort, Ind., died February 13, 2017 at his home unexpectedly.  Born in Frankfort, Ind., to John & Phyllis J. (Cohee) Bates. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cindy.

Richard was a 1972 graduate of Frankfort High School and was a lifelong Frankfort resident.  He worked at ADM since May of 1972 and was planning on retiring in June of 2017.  He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge #7 both in Frankfort.  He enjoyed his family, friends and spending time on the river.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Goodwin Funeral Home. No services are planned. Memorial donations may be made to Mooseheart Charities.

Survived by:

Mother: Phyllis J. Bates of Frankfort, Wife: Cindy Bates of Frankfort, 2 Daughters: Miranda (Shaun) Miller of Frankfort, Kim Culp of Frankfort, Son: Calvin Bates of Lebanon, Sister: Shellie (Mark) Bates Dexter of Lafayette, 3 Grandchildren, Kelsea, Maddox and London.

    Sorry for your loss. But, when Bater and I was at work, looking out a window at work. He said to me “I will never get to retire from here.” We joked, but, I guess he knew more than me. He will be missed!
