Rayburn Batts

Rayburn Batts, 97, of rural Frankfort, died May 8, 2022 at his home.  He was born April 3, 1925 in Boone County, Indiana to Otis & Lula (Kelley) Batts.  He married Helen Lee on May 1, 1949 at the First Methodist Church in Frankfort and she preceded him in death on February 21, 2018.

Rayburn attended Washington Township schools in Boone County and Jackson Township High School.  He had lived in Boone County from 1925-1940 before moving to Clinton County.  He was a lifelong farmer and had worked at Farm Bureau Co-op. for 5 years and Sears for 37 years.  He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Clinton County Antique Machinery Club, and Clinton County Diners.  Rayburn also enjoyed toy tractors and antique tractors.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. May 23, 2022 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. May 23rd at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, Alzheimer’s Association or the Clinton County Antique Machinery Club.

Survived by:

2 Sons: Jerry (Paulette) Batts of Frankfort, Steve (Debbie) Batts of rural Frankfort, Daughter: Sandra (Fritz) Mark of Spokane Valley, WA, 6 Grandchildren, Andrew, Gwen, Amber, Ryan, Scott and Jacob, 2 Great-Grandchildren, Makena and Lucas.

Preceded by:

a brother Ray Jean Batts.

    What a man and gentleman always ready to help always pleasant. Hard worker. Ray and I worked together several years at Sears. After I moved away from Frankfort we kept in touch by phone now and then, still
    have his phone number. Will miss that phone call now and then.

    So sorry about Ray! Saw him a lot when my Mother was in the G wing at Wesley Manor!! We got a chance to talk many times while he was with his wife and I was feeding my Mother! He was always such a nice and kind man!!!
