Phyllis J. Short 82, resident of Wesley Manor, Frankfort passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on November 30, 1934 in Kirklin, Indiana to Floyd & Gladys (Stern) Kingsolver. Phyllis married Jack E. Short on November 15, 1968 in Kirklin and he preceded her in death in November 1, 2003. Phyllis was a farm wife and also worked at the former Hanson’s Grocery in Kirklin before retiring in 2000 from Schulz IGA in Frankfort. She was a lifelong Clinton County resident and a 1952 graduate of Kirklin High School. Phyllis was of the Methodist Faith and was a former member of the Farmer’s Group of Kirklin, Order of the Eastern Star in Kirklin, Kirklin Fire Department Auxiliary and the Kirklin American Legion Auxiliary. She was the volunteer manager of the Wesley Manor Library and exemplified a great passion for reading and books. She also enjoyed antiques and was a lifetime collector.
Visitation and Services
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Wesley Manor Chapel in Frankfort. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service at Wesley Manor. A private family burial will be held later. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Manor.
Survived by:
A son, Tom (Wife-Sue Ann) West of Cassopolis, Michigan, a Brother, Alvin (Wife-Kay) Kingsolver of Kirklin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a Step Mother Grace Kingsolver, 1 brother Joe McKinney, 1 sister Ruth Hunter and an infant daughter.
Tom I’m so so sorry to see that your Mother passed away. She was the sweetest, funniest, appreciative person and I just loved her so much. She was one of my favorites at the Manor. I’m in Florida so I won’t be able to honor her by coming to her visitation. Thank you for sharing her with those of us that worked at Wesley Manor. She always made us laugh!!
