Miriam E. Taylor Shaffer

Miriam E. Taylor Shaffer 95 of Frankfort, IN, passed away in her home on September 7, 2012 at 3:20 p.m. She was born on August 11, 1917 in Lincolnville, Indiana to Wendell & Esther (Eviston) Brane. She was married to Odlin Taylor who died in 1958. She later married Cecil Shaffer and he died in 1989. Miriam made her home in La Fontaine for over 60 years, where she was a member of La Fontaine United Methodist Church. She left many friends in La Fontaine in 1997 when she moved to be near her daughter in Frankfort, IN. Miriam enjoyed family and friends and especially enjoyed her church in La Fontaine. She never missed an I.U. or Pacer basketball game and she was always ready for a game of Skip-bo. Her many family gatherings were especially important to her at her La Fontaine home and later at her home in Frankfort.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. with a service at 3 p.m., Saturday, September 15, 2012 at McDonald Funeral Home, 104 S. Main St., La Fontaine, IN. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery in La Fontaine, IN. Memorial donations may be made to the La Fontaine United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.

She will be very much missed by her children, daughter, Phyllis M. (Charlie) Steidle of Frankfort, IN, son, Ronald G. (Betty) Taylor of Barnegat, NJ, five grandchildren, Terry (Sylvia) Taylor, of AZ, Judy (Charlie) Denning of PA, Brenda (Steve) Galliher of AR, Jeff (Gina) Steidle of MI, Brad Steidle of IN, eleven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Preceded by:

Preceding her in death were her husbands, son, Charles W. Taylor and two brothers.
