Mary Clossin, 93, of Lafayette, died at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at I.U. Health Lafayette.  Born May 5, 1924 in Frankfort to Herschel & Artie (Smith) Kirby.  She married Richard John Clossin on December 5, 1943 and he preceded her in death on July 31, 1996.   Mary was a 1942 graduate of Frankfort High School.  She was a homemaker.  Mary was a member of the Lafayette Social Services and a longtime volunteer with Meals on Wheels.

Visitation and Services

A private family celebration will be held. No public services are planned.

Survived by:

Daughter: Catherine Crodian of West Chester, PA, Son: J. David Clossin of Indianapolis, 5 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren

Preceded by:

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary is preceded in death by her 4 siblings.

    Mary Belle was always a lady and taught me a lot–by word and example–when I was just an eighteen-year-old kid. We will all miss her very much.

    I was Ermal Kirby’s Grandson…Pete and Mary L. Kirby’s son. I wanted to reach out and offer my condolences. I remember your mother when I was young…she was always so kind. I’m sure, she will be greatly missed by many. You will all be in my thoughts…Adam Kirby

    My Aunt Mary was the sweetest, nicest, and most gracious lady I have ever known. She resonated with class at all times. I am forever grateful my family and I got to see her recently at Dad’s funeral services. Condolences to cousins David and Cathy and all their family members.

    My name is Lynda Davis. My parents were Raby and Mary Alice Davis. When I was a young child we lived next door to Mary and Johnny on Holloway Drive in Lafayette. I now live in NC. I’m sorry to hear about her passing as she made a lasting impression on my life. My condolences to Cathy and David.

    So sorry to learn of the loss of our dear neighbor, your mother and family member, Mary Clossin. We were on our front lawn when tbe emergency vehicles came to her house on a Fri afternoon. I did not know her personally.
    She was a good neighbor and kept her house and lawn well maintained. So very sorry for your loss.
    She is a loss to all of us on Penbrook Ln.
    Prayers for her family as you grieve. My husband & I bought our house at 3926 Penbrook Ln early spring 1994. Your mother was a very nice lady.
