Lois “Jeanette” Black

Lois “Jeanette” Black, 92, of Frankfort, died November 1, 2022 at Wesley Manor Retirement Community in Frankfort.  She was born on February 19, 1930 in Union City, Ohio to Otto Clark and Stella Sue (Newell) Jones.  She was previously married to George H. Northern Sr. and Hardy Myers, they divorced.  She then married Harlan Black on July 8, 1958 in Charleston, Illinois and he preceded her in death on November 5, 1984.

Jeanette attended Elwood Schools and was a homemaker.  She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Frankfort.  She enjoyed quilting, cooking and reading in her later years.

Memorial donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 900 S. Maish Road, Frankfort, IN  46041. 

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2022 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort.  Funeral services will begin a 11 a.m. at the funeral home.  Kevin Alber will officiate the service. Entombment will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park.

Surviving are her Children: George (Sharon) Northern of Chesapeake, Virginia, Sue Ann (Tom) Shover of Columbia, Kentucky, Margaret Jones of Cookeville, Tennessee, David (Donna) Myers of Frankfort, Indiana, and James (Elfie) Black of Frankfort, Indiana; Sister: Kay Cooksey of Noblesville, Indiana; Brother: Don Jones of Noblesville, Indiana; Sister: Joan Perkins of Shaker Heights, OH  Nieces: Patsy (Mike) Flowers of Colfax, Indiana and Sheryl (Ehsan) Nikpor of Shiraz, Iran; 15 Grandchildren; and Several Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Patricia Black, son-in-law: Ralph Jones, 5 sisters: Irene Lamp, Phyllis Noble, Evelyn Steptoe, Donna Enis and Betty Houston, , 4 brothers: Jack, James, Paul, and Thomas, brother-in-law: John Cooksey, and granddaughter: Susanna Foster.

    We are going to miss you great lady. You have been the greatest Mom-in-law and were a very good mother to your children. Always considerate of others.
