LeRoy P. Lyman, 79, of Colfax, died July 8, 2022.  He was born September 28, 1942 in Lafayette, Ind. to James & Edith (Pugh) Lyman.  He married Rita Jo Scarlett on December 2, 1962 in Lafayette and she preceded him in death on January 24, 2010.

LeRoy attended school in Dayton and had lived in Dayton and the Colfax area his entire life.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves.  He was a press operator, retiring from Alcoa after 29 years.  He was a member of the Methodist Church in Colfax.  LeRoy loved cooking, decorating cakes, drawing and painting.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will 9-11 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2022 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery, Colfax, Ind.

Survived by:

Daughter: Paula (Lewis) Crews of rural Frankfort, 5 Sons: LeRoy (Pam) Lyman Jr. of Brookston, Tim ((Kim Shoemaker) Lyman of rural Frankfort, Brian (Stacey) Lyman of Colfax, Roger (Tonya Williamson) Lyman of Colfax and Mark Lyman of Crawfordsville. A brother, Joe Lyman, 3 sisters, Rosella Tittle, Mary O’Neil and Ruth Killian, 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother and 3 grandchildren.

    So sorry to hear this, he was a good man, always was cooking and baking. I use to love to go see Paula, cause he would have something so yummy, may his children get there hearts filled with his wonderful memories and his devoted love for them. Prayers for all. What a great loss. God Bless.

    Dear Lyman Family,

    My thoughts and prayers are with all of you with the passing of your dad. I always enjoyed chatting and catching up with your dad and your mom over the years. Long time neighbors and long time friends. He was a great man who a great smile.

    I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your father. My mom and I use to live in the house behind yours there in Colfax and I will always remember your dad for saving me from a snake in my mom’s rock garden.
