Facebook Twitter GoogleMy Dearest Gene, Bernie, June and Kerry, You are my second family. It is with a heavy heart I write today. I’m supposed to be calling Kathy to share stories with her on her birthday. Instead, I’m sharing with you and her friends, the words I should have said to her long ago. Although we’ve been separated by many miles over the years, our hearts and minds were joined when we first met on the Pi Phi floor at ASU. We could always pick up where we left off, as if time stood still between our visits. I could always count on her to cheer me up with her optimism and to accept me for all my faults. Her laugh was contagious. It is recorded on a hard drive, forever in my mind. We laughed and cried together for both silly and serious reasons. I’ll never forget when she scolded me for not painting my toenails, or watching her mix mayo and ketchup and putting it on almost everything (ugh!). We shared a love for animals, but I didn’t have her courage to make a trip to the pound. As the years went by, she shared how much she cared for the children who were lost in the system. Clearly, she touched the souls of many, giving them the knowledge that there is someone who cares and that they do have value. She lived strong and loved many. I miss my dear friend…. love you, Amy
