Katherine Louise Stowers King

December 25, 2019

Katherine King, 89, passed away peacefully at her Kirklin home on Wednesday, December 25, 2019 with loved ones by her side. Katherine was born on October 9, 1930 to James & Ruby (Bennett) Stowers and lived most of her 89 years in Kirklin, Indiana.  She had lived and experienced more that she ever dreamed she would.

Katherine/Gram was known for her love of people and knew no strangers.  Her home was always open to friends and family.  She was a wonderful grandmother. Watching for different birds gave her lots of joy.  She was a member of the Kirklin American Legion Auxiliary Post 310, where she carried the first auxiliary flag in a parade and loved raising money through poppy sales.  She was the force behind money raised for a permanent monument in the Stowers Cemetery and finding and replacing the missing sundial in front of the local Kirklin Library.  Her legacy will live on in Kirklin forever as she was responsible for assigning the house numbers to every house in Kirklin.

Jessica, Madison, McKenzie, and Family, Roger and I are very sorry for your loss. My heart aches for all of you during this extremely painful time. I know your Gram meant the world to all of you AND you too meant the world to her (don’t ever forget that). She loved all of you so much, she showed her passion for family consistently by laughing, listening, advising, and giving ALL her love when very much needed. Please know, Gram is not suffering anymore…she has been reunited with your Pop in Heaven. All of you have been in our thoughts and prayers in the last week and will continue to be in the coming days, weeks, and months. May God walk with you, comfort you, and heal your broken hearts in the coming days, weeks, and months. Love Adam and Roger

Dear Sweet Katherine, you will be missed! We always loved your smiles and hugs in church and your asking about various people we knew in common. Even though we live halfway around the world in the Philippines we thought of, and still think of, Aunt Katherine everyday. We love and miss her very much. She was the adhesive that held the various branches of our family together. We will miss the mornings we spent in Aunt Katherine’s kitchen just talking over several cups of coffee. You never knew who was going to pop in and join the conversation. You will always be in our hearts Aunt Katherine. We love and miss you more than words can say.

In loving memory of Aunt Katherine: Bill (Billy) & Delly Bay
