Joseph Calvin Calloway, 95, of Frankfort, Ind., died April 8, 2020 at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.  He was born December 17, 1924 in Clinton County, Ind. to Manson & Pearl (Stinebaugh) Calloway.  He married Geraldine Bolinger in 1946 and she passed away in 1947.  He married Julia Ann Hillman on July 8, 1948 in Kokomo, Ind. and she preceded him in death.

Joseph worked for Pete’s Feed for thirteen years, farmed, raised hogs, livestock and also worked for National Seal for 16 years, retiring in 1987.  He was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army.  He was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church and a member of the VFW.  Joseph enjoyed attending Army Reunions, gardening, fishing, visiting, playing cards, spending time with family.  In the past, he enjoyed hunting & going to the farmers market.

Visitation and Services

Private family service will be Monday, April 13, 2020 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Due to the current circumstances facing our Nation, this service will be live streamed at 2 p.m. on Monday. To participate, please look for the link on our website. Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Clinton County Cancer Fund or Alzheimer’s Association.

2 Daughters: Jane Ann Fry of Frankfort, Jenny Lynn (Kevin) Harshbarger of Rossville, 1 Son: Jon “Mark” (Gale) Calloway of Frankfort, Daughter-in-Law: Rebecca Calloway of California, 3 Sisters: Lelah Russell of Kokomo, Rosie Stroup of Frankfort, Joan (Jim) Tarkington of Frankfort, 18 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandson.

Preceded by:

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sons, Ronald Joe Calloway, Dee Edwin “Eddie” Calloway, and Kevin Drew Calloway, daughter, Janet Eileen Calloway, sister, Velda Molton and 6 brothers, Robert, Troy, Emmett, Jesse, William & Sylvester Calloway and son-in-law, David A. Fry.

    I never met a man that I admired more. Joe set the standards that all will be measured against. I know I was most lucky and blessed to have known him. My condolences to all his family and friends.

    So sorry for your loss to the family. Joe was my neighbor for many years and also a coworker at National Seal. He will be greatly missed by all. He would travel to Michigan for peaches. I would buy a bushel off of him. The best peaches I ever ate. See you on the other side Joe.

    Sincere condolences to the family. Sorry due to Covid 19 that I cannot pay my respects. Joe, Judy, Eddy and Kevin were all great members of the family I knew when living in Indiana.

    I very sorry to hear this. Our families have known each other for years. Joe and Judy were such dear friends to all of us. Jane, Jenny and John Mark you are in our prayers and thoughts. Such good man we have lost an angel on earth.

    To the whole of the Calloway family. My deepest sympathies on Joe’s passing! He truly was a man to strive to measure up to! He and my grandpa Phil Heavilon was good friends. I sure enjoyed the visits with Joe, when I was home. Grandpa and I would go by and hang out for a while several times while I was there. I sure miss his popcorn!! The last batch I got from him…kind of had him in disbelief …I asked how much ya got, he said how much ya need? I said 200#…he was silent a minute and asked Really? Yep…and he hooked me up!! Took just over a year to use it too…lol. Sure will miss him!! Prayers for you all!!

    My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle Joe was an awesome guy. He loved everyone and was loved by everyone. God has a wonderful man with him and now all of the brothers can play cards. What a joy it would be to see them all together.

    I love Joe like family, and he and Judy always treated me as family. How grateful I am for their love and generosity. I still have a little of his popcorn in my freezer. I’ll eat it one kernel at a time and savor my memories of being with Joe and Judy. Both were the salt of the earth. A tender place in my heart is reserved just for them. I pray that the Lord’s peace will be with his loved ones even as we grieve his passing. I pray you will find comfort in knowing that death is not the end. You will see him again because of our Savior’s atoning sacrifice, His Resurrection, and His grace. I love you.

    My sincere condolences in your loss. When I moved to the states, Joe and Judy always welcomed me into their home. Joe was a warm and entertaining man who to me always remained optimistic and very much loved his family.
    I was fortunate to have known him and Judy both.
