John I. “Jack” Sharp

John I. ”Jack” Sharp 89, of rural Frankfort, died at 9:13 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital. Born September 18, 1924 in Frankfort to the late Harold E. & Esta (Smith) Sharp. He married Elizabeth Joan Sharp on December 3, 1944 in Frankfort and she preceded him in death on January 10, 2011. A lifelong Clinton County resident, Mr. Sharp was a 1942 graduate of Michigantown High School and took the Purdue Agriculture Short Course. He was a farmer for 40 years and drove the #2 school bus for the Community Schools of Frankfort for 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Sharp was a lifelong member of the St. Matthew United Methodist Church, a life member of the Frankfort Optimist, member of the Frankfort Elks and American Legion and on the Farm Bureau Board of Directors. John was an avid bowler and sports fan.

Visitation and Services

Calling will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 4th at St. Matthew United Methodist Church. Burial will following in Green Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew United Methodist Church.

(Carolyn) Sharp of Frankfort, Mike (Kimberly) Sharp of Denver, CO, 4 Grandchildren: Beth (Jim McKay) Sharp of Mattapoisett, MA, Pete Sharp of Bellingham, WA, Bryan (Denise) Sharp of Denver, CO, Thad Sharp of Vail, CO, 2 Great Grandchildren: Ryan & Elliott Sharp of Denver, CO, Sister: Julia Lawall of Indianapolis, Niece: Barb James of Indianapolis and Nephew: John Lawall of Spring, TX.

Preceded by:

a son, Tom Sharp and a grandson, Ryan Sharp.

    Oh how I remember riding that #2 bus many years ago. I always thought we had the best bus driver ever! I have fond memories of Mr. Sharp while growing up in Frankfort.

    Jack was a good friend of my parents, Mary and Ray Cox, and he and Joan used to visit them in Frankfort and in Florida. My uncle, Charlie Collins, also used to speak highly of Jack when they were both school bus drivers. He touched so many lives in a positive way. Sending our condolences from Louisville, Ky.

    Bob and Carolyn: So sorry to read about Jack’s passing. I can still see him driving our school bus. I don’t think anything we did ever flustered him. He will be remembered by a lot of school bus alums. Our sympathy to you and your family.
