John Eldon Neidlinger, 74, previously of Frankfort, died July 31, 2023 at Franciscan Health, Lafayette, Ind.  He was born August 4, 1948 in Frankfort, Ind. to John & Vera (Jessup) Neidlinger.

John was a 1967 graduate of Frankfort High School. Following high school, he was drafted into the Army where he served during the Vietnam war.  He began working for Frito Lay as a machine operator in 1980. He was previously married to Carol Hall and Trish Suter.  John was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Frankfort.  He enjoyed storm chasing, fishing and was in his element when outdoors.  John loved his children and grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be Noon-2 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St. Frankfort with the funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clinton County Boys and Girls Club, P.O. Box 103, Frankfort, IN 46041.

Sons: John “Rusty” (Marcy) Neidlinger of Frankfort, IN, Shane (Jessica) Neidlinger of Frankfort, KY, Luke (Rachel) Neidlinger of Remington, IN, Stepson: Tony (Sarah) Roth of Lafayette, IN, Grandchildren: Chloe, Jase, Cooper, Riley, Haleigh, Johnathan, Shelby and Cole

his daughter, Desiree Smith and his parents.

    So sorry to hear of John’s passing. My favorite memory of him took place at a basketball game. I believe it was one of the sons and a friend came over and sat on John’s lap- dressed as women! John took it so well. He let me take their picture. Even years later, John would mention it to us, with a smile on his face.

    Our prayers that God surrounds the family with His peace & love. We enjoyed cheering our boys playing Hotdog tennis together with John. Fun memories of that time.

    I liked John so much. Always cordial and friendly. We missed him at our class luncheons when he became too ill to attend. Always a good friend. We will miss you John.

    Sorry to just hear of John’s passing. I’m sure he has a friend, in Dan, to trade a story or two up there. I will miss John down here in the meantime.

    My deepest condolences to John’s family. He was a good guy. I remember when he moved to Frankfort and began attending Riley Elementary. We used to talk and share some laughs through our school days. I’m glad I had a chance to talk with him at our 50th class reunion. May many fond memories bring you comfort and peace.
