John E. Schoen 67 of Kirklin, passed away at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Saint Frances Hospital in Greenwood. He was born on April 9, 1948 in Beech Grove, IN to Edward & Mildred (Stewart) Schoen. John married Lu Ann Hansen on September 21, 1975 in Kirklin and she survives.
John had formerly worked at the Pendleton Penitentiary as a Guard, Fox Worthy Ford in Sales, Precision Truss in Kirklin. He has spent the past 29 years as a Millwright at Chrysler in Kokomo.
He has lived the past 40 years in Kirklin and was a 1967 graduate of Sheridan High School. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the US Army from October 1967 to May 1969. John attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Frankfort and was a member of the United Auto Workers, National Hot Rod Association, and formerly served on the Kirklin Volunteer Fire Department. He loved to race his 1967 Plymouth GTX in the quarter mile drags.
Visitation and Services
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2015 at the Goodwin Funeral Home. Friends may visit from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Entombment with military honors will be held following the service at the Clinton County Mausoleum located in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.
