Jean M. (Sheets) Davis, 90 of Thorntown, died at 10:59 a.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014. Born January 21, 1924 in Merlin, Canada to Larnie “Bob” and Millie (Sales) Sheets. She married Paul M. Davis on February 7, 1947 in Frankfort and he preceded her in death on January 2, 1996. Born and raised in Merlin, Canada, she moved to Frankfort and then to Thorntown where she lived until the time of her passing. Jean attended schools in Canada and worked for Mallory Controls and National Seal retiring in 1986. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Thorntown Baptist Church and enjoyed bird watching, puzzles, reading, traveling, and her family.
Visitation and Services
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the Goodwin Funeral Home. Denver Fields will officiate the service. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the funeral service at the Green Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in Jean’s honor to Boone County Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Facebook Twitter GoogleI’m so glad Dad and I got to visit Aunt Jean in the hospital a few months ago. Dad doesn’t get around much these days but he wanted to see her. She saw his cane and said
“I have to use a walker” where Dad replied, “I have to use a cane”, then they both giggled! With every care giver that came into the room while we were there, she said, “that’s my brother Bill!”. It was very sweet.

Facebook Twitter GoogleI told my minister my mother was such an angel, and he said she is not an angel she is a saint which is higher than an angel. Our sign that the person went to heaven is it can be blue sky and if breaks out in a rain they made it to heaven, well as soon as we got home it rained and rained hard. My husband said your mother is in heaven now. She always had a smile and never once do we remember her complaining, if only I could be like her. I will miss her and I will until I see her in heaven. The last words she said to me was “I Love You” and that will take me a long way.

Facebook Twitter GoogleMy mother and best friend went to heaven Sunday and we know she is in heaven because if it is blue skies then all of a sudden it breaks out in a rain it means she made it to heaven. It did exactly that Wednesday after the service and her last words to me was “I Love You” and that will go along way in my heart. Thank You for the beautiful service and for all the people that did come to bid this wonderful woman who always had a smile and didn’t complain goodbye. I know in my heart she will be there to great me when I get to heaven!
