Jay Pickering

Jay D. Pickering 61 a former Frankfort resident, died April 22, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital, Beech Grove, IN. Born July 29, 1949 in Frankfort, IN to the late Arthur Earl & Vivian (Hickerman) Pickering. He married Linda Caffey on March 4, 1985 in Las Vegas, NV and she survives. Mr. Pickering was a graduate of Frankfort High School. He had lived in Martinsville for the last 19 years. He had also lived in Chicago for 6 years and Muncie for 8 years. He was in sales/purchasing and worked for EM Co. in Southport, Dominick’s and IGA in Chicago, Damon’s in New York City and Marsh Headquarters in Yorktown, IN. He was in the Army reserves for 6 years. Mr. Pickering was a member of the Jaycees in Frankfort and Muncie and helped with the fireworks display in both cities.

Visitation and Services

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday April 27, 2011 at Goodwin Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Charity of Choice.

Wife: Linda Pickering of Martinsville
2 Sons: Kyle (Lori) Pickering of Anderson and Kurt (Jennifer) Pickering of Muncie
4 Sisters: Carol Mitchell of Arkansas, Jean Cohee of North Carolina, Peggy Houze of Frankfort and Kay (Carl) Mocherman of Cutler
Brother: Joe Pickering of Frankfort
4 Grandchildren: Brandon Pickering & Maggie Pickering both of Anderson and Tristan Pickering & Noah Pickering both of Muncie
Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    I am sorry to learn of Jay’s passing. Jay was not only a customer to me,while he worked for Marsh, IGA and EM ,but a very good friend, for many years. Jay is on my short list of the best people I have known in my life. Please accept my deepest condolence.
