James F. “Jim” Schimmel, 83, of rural Frankfort, died March 9, 2017 at I.U. Health Hospital, Lafayette, Ind. Born December 26, 1933 in Warren County, Ind., to Roy E. & Audrey (Evans) Schimmel. He married Linda Lou Bartley on October 2, 1954 and she preceded him in death on November 30, 2016. Mr. Schimmel attended Kirklin High School. He worked for ALCOA Aluminum Factory, National Homes and Dave Michaels Construction. James was a lifetime member of the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, horses, bird watching and especially enjoyed his family.
Visitation and Services
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Services will begin a 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Indiana Horse Rescue, envelopes will be available.

3 Daughters: Sherry D. (Shane L.) Vanlandingham of Lebanon, Cordilia J. “Cordy” Boyer of Frankfort and Carolyn S. Shepherd of Mulberry, 1 Son: James F. Schimmel Jr. of rural Frankfort, 2 Brothers: William ‘Bill’ Schimmel of rural Frankfort and Roy T. ‘Tom’ (Ruth) Schimmel of rural Lafayette, Sister: Gloria Hite of Frankfort, 10 Grandchildren and several Great Grandchildren.
Preceded by:
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a great grandson, Wyatt Alan Fausett and a son-in-law, Garry Boyer.
