James D. Richards

James D. Richards, 81, former Clinton County resident, passed away Friday, January 22, 2010 at his home in Fort Wayne. He was born in Michigan Twp in Clinton County, IN. James was a 1946 graduate of Michigantown HS and also graduated from Toledo Meat Cutting School in 1949 and obtained a Broker's License from Keystone Real Estate School in 1963. He worked as a letter carrier with U.S. Postal Service for 21 years, retiring in 1989. His prior employment was a meat cutter for Kroger, Standard and Phil Heavilon Grocery. He resided in Frankfort, Lebanon, Muncie, Angola, Fort Wayne and wintered for 15 years in Englewood Florida. He was a former member of Michigantown United Methodist Church, member of New Haven United Methodist Church, and Moose Lodge in Angola. He was a past President of Northern Indiana Rural Carriers Assoc., Crooked Lake Cottage Owners Assoc., and Park Pointe Association at Englewood, FL.

Visitation and Services

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.

Survived by:

He is survived by his wife, Regeana Dolores Richards of Fort Wayne; daughters, Janice Dianne Richards of Fort Wayne, and Jarretta Daille Chaffin of Hampton, GA; brother, Jewell Ray Richards of Williamston, MI; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Preceded by:

James was preceded in death by his parents, Cyrus J. and June D. Richards; daughter, Donna Jean Phillips in 2001; brothers, Maurice, Doyal, Joe Lee, and William Richards.
