So sorry to hear about the passing of Uncle Alvin. As the only son of his sister, Ruth, I deeply regret I cannot attend his service. God bless you all. [Randy, Jennifer and Rick] I’m glad the Kingsolver name lives on through you all. I will always have kind thoughts of Kay and Alvin. I still remember their wedding day! I think I was about 6 years old. Kay was just radiant and Uncle Alvin had this big grin on his face. That’s how I will always remember him.

As the only daughter of Alvin’s sister Ruth Ellen, I completely agree with the comments that my brother Don made. I too, remember their wedding vividly. Have many fond memories of our families, particularly at the family Thanksgiving gatherings. We live in SWFL full-time now and could not attend the funeral. The family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I spent three different winter sessions at Kirklin Grade School with Alvin. I remember fondly the red brick building, classrooms and blackboards. Those days are long gone. Alvin shared our farmland along with Glen and Ruth Mullikin for over fifty years without a hitch. We will all miss Kay and Alvin. End of an era. RIP

    Jennifer, Randy, and Rick,
So sorry to hear of Alvin’s passing. Alvin and Kay were a wonderful couple. Loved walking into the Kirklin gas station in the mornings and seeing their smiling faces. My dad, Wayne “Pinedog” Jobe, was also one of the morning gas station crew. Sending hugs and prayers to all the Kingsolver family.

Jennifer…I just heard about your dad! I wanted to say I am so very sorry for your loss. I know how close you two were (and your mom)! I always loved seeing your parents and yourself come to dine at my restaurant many years ago. Your dad was always very nice and your mom so sweet (and funny…always smiling/laughing). I will be thinking of you…if you need anything or someone to talk to, get ahold of me on FB or email. Rest In Peace Alvin, with Kay

  20. Jennifer Cast April 18, 2022 at 5:20 pm

Jennifer, Rick and Randy – I was very fortunate to get to know your father when I bought my great-grandfather’s farm from my cousins. I quickly came to love and deeply respect your dad. He was kind, considerate, smart, honest, and one of the hardest workers I have known. I’ll never forget visiting your mom and dad’s house with Carter and Will when they were little. He drove the boys around on his lawn mower, showed them all his tractors, and we took photos of them inside one of the big tractor wheels! I loved the way he talked — and how succinct he was. He reminded me of my great uncle, Glen. I so enjoyed sharing farming with Alvin and will miss him deeply. I know he was happy that I will now share farming with his children. Love, Jennifer Cast
