Imogene J. Padgett

August 11, 2019

Imogene J. “Jeanie” (Snell) Padgett, 89, of rural Frankfort, died August 11, 2019 at Wesley Manor.  She was born September 20, 1929 at home in Michigantown, Ind. to Ralvue G. & Jesse Olive (Bannon) Snell.  Imogene has resided at Wesley Manor Retirement Community for the past 6 years, previously from Colfax, Ind.  She married Lloyd W. Padgett on September 27, 1947 at the Salem UP (Mud Creek) Church near Elizaville in Boone County, Ind.  He preceded her in death on September 5, 2002.

Mrs. Padgett was a graduate of 1947 Frankfort High School.  She was a farm wife, mother of 6 and grandmother to many.  Imogene was a member of Kirklin & Colfax O.E.S. and current member of Clinton O.E.S., AIM Home Ec. Club, Modern Mother’s Club of Jackson Township, Clinton County Antique Machinery Club, Inc., where she and Lloyd proudly displayed their Allis Chalmers UC High Crop Cane Tractor.  They enjoyed camping and traveling to the shows to display their big orange tractor.  She worked previously worked at Mallory controls of Frankfort and was the Perry Township Trustee from 1984-1994.  Imogene was a member of the New Hope Church where she was very active with the women’s group and children’s director for many years.  She loved to plan events and if there was food to cook, she was on the committee.  Crafts were always being made for gifts or sold.  Christmas time was her favorite time for decorating, at times as many as 20 trees of different shapes. Imogene loved keeping up with her children and grandchildren through 4-H, school activities and many, many sporting events.

A thank you to the wonderful staff at Wesley Manor Retirement Community and the Guardian Angel Hospice.  A special thank you and appreciation to the G Wing of Wesley Manor, you are all angels in our hearts and minds of the care of our mother for the last year and half.  There are too many, but to name a few, Angie, Lacey, Danielle, and Kelly.  In assisted living, Jeannette, Elizabeth, Bonnie and Sharon.  We are so appreciative of the kind and loving words from so many of the employees that have cared for our mother.
