Facebook Twitter GoogleHarriett Toney wasn’t only my mother-in-law, she was my friend. We both loved her son/my husband, Ray Toney, who passed away three years ago. His death took a big piece of both of our hearts. I knew Harriett for over 30 years since I had been married to Ray that long. She raised a kind, gentle soul of a man who was unfortunate in life with all his illnesses. Since 2011, I started calling Harriett nearly every day to let her know how Ray was doing. She was my lifeline to him after he died with all the stories of his growing up and I learned things I never knew. Yesterday, something trivial happened and I thought, “I should call Harriett and tell her.” But then I remembered I can’t call her anymore. Hopefully, she is with Ray because she loved him dearly (and I think she loved me, too, because I took such good care of him all those years). I hope she isn’t suffering anymore and can play cards and sew quilts and have the life she once had before she got sick. I’ll miss you, Harriett. Love, Sandy
