Harold Wayne “Putt” Myers, 94, of Frankfort, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 surrounded by family at the home he built in 1953 and where he had lived for the past 65 years. He was born November 30, 1923 on the family farm in Colfax, Indiana to Eldo and Opal (Adkins) Myers. He was a graduate of Colfax High School, Class of 1941. He married Juanita Mullendore at the Jenkins farm in Clinton County on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1943. They remained sweethearts until her passing on May 2, 2009. They were blessed with 66 years of marriage and six children.
He was a veteran of WWII and served in the European Theater in Patton’s Third Army as a machine gunner. He marched and fought his way across Europe and received the Bronze Star for bravery. After the war ended, he remained in Austria for a year as a Special Services Staff Sergeant.
He was raised on the farm, milking cows and farming with his dad and two brothers. Driving his father’s milk truck segued into a lifetime career of truck driving. He drove ten years for Sprout & Davis and retired from trucking after 30 years with Roadway Express. His safe driving record was stellar with over three-million miles driven with no accidents.
He has resided in Frankfort since 1946. He was a fifty year member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the 70 & 2 Sunday school class. He loved all things cars. He had a great mind for facts and figures and could quote the specs of every Cadillac model and year. He was a devoted husband and father and spent his free time taking his family to church, boating, skiing, picnicking and vacationing. He enjoyed wood-working, gardening, and listening to Big Band music of the 40’s.
He was a fine gentleman who always had a positive attitude. He taught his children to love God. “Worry not” and to always “Look for the sunshine”. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

George and the entire Myers family. My heart goes out to your family. I am very saddened to hear of your dad’s passing. He was one of my favorites on the mail route, always looked forward to a conversation with him, and what a class act he was! I hope that the comfort of knowing that your mom and dad are now back together again will give you some comfort.

Facebook Twitter GoogleHi All- This is Linda Tressler, Ralph’s Step-Daughter, of course. I was so sorry to hear of your Father’s passing and will try to be there Saturday, probably with Sonja. Your Father was such a nice, friendly person and I know, as with your wonderful, fun Mother, he will also be greatly missed. I can’t remember ever seeing your Father without a smile on his face! Also, what a great picture of both your Dad alone and the picture of both parents together. I know your Mom was a lot of fun and I’m guessing your Dad was also! My heart goes out to you all, and I’m looking forward to seeing you Saturday. Take care! Love, Linda
