George N. Benefiel 92, of Frankfort, died November 25, 2023 at Wesley Manor. He was born January 2, 1931 in Frankfort, Ind. to Earl Otis & Sharlean Marahia (Ferguson) Benefiel. He married Phyllis Tackett on May 7, 1949 in Frankfort and they have been married for 74 years.
George was a 1949 graduate of Frankfort High School. He was a lifelong resident of Clinton County, moving to Florida in 2004 and then moved back home in July of 2018. He was a contractor and owner of Benny’s Construction in Frankfort for 25 years, retiring in 1992. He was a past member of New Hope Church, member of Colfax Masonic Lodge, where he was past master, member of the Murat Shrine and Scottish Rite. George enjoyed watching Nascar, loved to travel, has been to all 50 states and took a train across Mexico.
Visitation and Services
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, November 30, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Clinton County Cancer Fund.

Wife: Phyllis Benefiel of Frankfort, Son: Gerald “Gary” Benefiel of North Fort Myers, 5 Grandchildren: Chris, Courtney, Carey, Andrea, Michael (Keshia Hurless) Benefiel, 3 Great-Grandchildren: Natalie, Ethan, Laura, He is also survived by siblings, extended family and friends

his parents, two sons, Brian D. Benefiel and Charles “Chuck” Benefiel, daughters-in-law, Beverly Benefiel, Linda Benefiel, sisters, Vinnie Crews, Ann Lahee and Emma Benefiel and brother, John Benefiel.
