Our dear mother is finally at peace with Jesus and she is again dancing with the love of her life. Geneva Mary (Newhart) Stewart, 93, of Frankfort died peacefully in her home on May 9, 2016 at 1:14 p.m. Her husband, Harold E. Stewart, preceded her in death on February 20, 2005. She was born on September 20, 1922 in Buck Creek, IN to Thomas Ivory and Myrtle Ivy (Robey) Newhart. She was the seventh of nine children, William, Walter, Dorothy, James, Dale, Melvin, Thomas, and Betty.
While attending Little Jeff High School, she met the man of her dreams, Harold E. Stewart, on a blind date. They were married on her birthday, September 20, 1939 in the First Christian Church by Reverend Farr. Her children were truly blessed to have been the result of this perfect union.
Our mother was a woman like no other. Anyone who knew her knew what a remarkable woman she was. She was a tough task master but would bend over backward to help anyone. She loved her husband and family more than anything in the world and devoted her life to us, her home, and her yard. She was not only a great household executive, but she worked side by side with Daddy at the furniture markets and as an interior design specialist at Stewart’s Furniture. She was a girl scout leader for 15 years, a cub scout den mother for 5 years, a member of the Order of Eastern Star Clinton Chapter 6 for 55 years, and a member of the First Christian Church for well over 50 years where she participated in the Ladies’ Concern Group. She was also a member of Zonta professional women’s group.
Those wishing to make a memorial donation in memory of our mother may donate to First Christian Church, 58 South Columbia Street, Frankfort, IN 46041 or the Order of Eastern Star Clinton Chapter 6, 201 South Main Street, Frankfort, IN 46041, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

We remember the days up on the river and the fun your mom shared with our mother (Margaret Gibbs). Great memories. To Sharon,
our trips back and forth from ISU while in college, and to Milt, your help at the furniture store and on the golf course. Your Mom was a
super strong person that has lived a wonderful life. Our sympathy goes to all of you during this sad time of her passing.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Geneva. You mom and dad were so dear to my mom and dad. The years of friendship grew into an extended family for both sides. I think of the Stewart’s, Eberle’s and Howe’s playing cards every Friday night, going fishing, going to movies and out to dinner, just having FUN together. What a GOOD life they all had. SO many memories, so much love.
Your parents were great neighbors to Larry’s mom and dad. Geneva was especially kind after Larry’s dad passed. You mom was a blessing to all who knew her. I will miss her. I tried to keep in touch at Christmas each year. If I had known when she passed I would have flown home. That’s what dad would have done and me too. Love and hugs to all of you.

Your family’s video of your mother is a loving tribute to a beautiful woman. You could pass as her twin in her younger years. God bless you during this difficult time. My sympathies to you and your family.
