Gary W. Warthan

Gary W. Warthan, 43, of Kirklin, died Friday May 18, 2018 in Tipton, Indiana. Mr. Warthan was born May 28, 1974 in Lafayette, Ind. to Patricia D. (Lewis) Cox.  He married Lisa Staley on September 1, 2001 and she survives.

Gary was a 1993 graduate of Clinton Central High School.  He had worked as a journeyman sheet metal worker for Poynter Sheet Metal and had worked for the last year for the Sheet Metal Union at Frito Lay.  He was a member of the Sheet Metal Union.  He loved boating and being a “river rat.”  He was an Indianapolis Colts season ticket holder.  He enjoyed four wheelers and working on vehicles with his boys.  Being a father was his greatest joy and he loved attending his children’s sporting events.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gary’s memory may be made in care of Goodwin Funeral Home to benefit Gary’s children.

Visitation and Services

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main Street, Frankfort.  Friends may visit from 4 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Surviving Family includes his Wife:  Lisa Warthan of Kirklin;  Sons:  Domonic Warthan and Zachary Warthan;  Daughter:  Brianna Warthan all at home;  Mother:  Patricia D. Cox of Kirklin;  “Dad”:  Ronnie Lewis of Monticello;  Sisters:   Jessica Warthan (Crystal) of Kirklin, Sherry Warthan, and Alicia Warthan;  Mother-in-law:  Denise (Larry) Bray of Frankfort;  Brother-in-law:  Robert (Laura) Staley of Michigan;  Special Niece:  Bristol Warthan;  Special Nephew:  Braylon Warthan.  Several Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his brother:  Roger D. Warthan.

    We are so sorry for the loss of a husband and father. Have know Gary for a long time from my daughter in school to my grandson being friends with Dominic and Your mom Lisa being my sister-n-law.     So So Sorry for this loss, he was a great guy. I Loved him calling me “mamasita”, he had a great smile and personality. Even though the Warthans weren’t officially family any more I still cared for them like part of the family. Gary and Roger were loved by all of my family. My condolences to Patty, Jessica, Lisa, and the rest of the family. You’re all in my prayers. God Bless you all.

    Worked with Gary in the trade. Went to a few Colts games with him. Great guy. Had great times every time we was together. My condolences to the Warthan family. God Bless.

    Gary was a good man and a great Union Brother. I hadn’t talked to him in a long time, but I have some good memories tailgating before Indianapolis Colts football games. Extreme apologies to all of the family. He will be missed.
